With most parking garage openings averaging 9’6”, accommodating parking spaces for 8’2” handicap accessible vans as required by ADA has become a huge challenge. Taking up less than 14” coiled grille headroom space at its largest (and often even smaller), the MicroCoil security grille allows almost any parking facility the opportunity to install rolling security grilles and still be in compliance.

Our compact parking lot security gates are easy to install in new construction as well as retrofit into existing parking structures. All high performance compact parking grilles are paired with our advanced APEX Pro SmartController™ control panel, so programming and setting limits for your parking entrance gate is simple. This control panel will accept all activation systems. Safety is addressed with light curtains plus photo eyes to prevent potential harm or injury from the parking security grille. All compact parking grilles feature long lasting stainless steel links and a direct drive operator that eliminate sprockets and chains to wear or replace. Perimeter parts can be customized and your grille can be manufactured to exact specifications.

When a low headroom security solution is required, the MicroCoil high performance compact grilles are the only security grilles that are low on space, but high on performance.

Standard Materials & Finishes

The Extreme High Performance MicroCoil - 500K Cycle offers an open-air design for increased visibility and ventilation. Curtains are assembled with a minimum solid 5/16 diameter, 5056 H32 aluminum alloy sleeved with horizontal aluminum or stainless steel tube spacers to separate vertical links on alternate rods with continuous end tube spacers. The vertical spacing is 2.5" to 3.7" on center. Vertical chains are solid 1/8" minimum stainless steel links, 1/4 inch wide, positioned by aluminum or stainless steel tube spacers on 9 inch centers. Nylon insert nuts are threaded on to the end of each rod to secure the chains.

Extreme^® Series Door Drive & Control System

This door features our first intelligent control panel - the APEX Pro SmartController™. It features:

• Plug-and-play connections between the motor, control panel, and standard sensors
• LCD screen that walks user through

  • Many common door adjustments

This door also comes with a compact direct drive operator with no roller chains or sprockets and an internal inertia brake for safety.

Operator Covers

Metal cover to protect the coil or operator from exterior weather, debris or to meet OSHA or UL 325 safety requirements.

Powder Coating Grilles

Powder coat finish in more than 180 colors is available on perimeter components such as the aluminum bottom bar, hoods, wall angles, tubes and fascia. This finish is not available on the grille curtain.

Sloping Bottom Bar

CornellCookson's new low profile sloping bottom bar for the Extreme MicroCoil Grille and Extreme 300 Series High Performance Grille allows for a continuous uniform grille versus the traditional, bulkier pitch plates giving your opening a highly aesthetic, finished look.

Performance Upgrades

LED Light Kit

The LED Light Kit provides a high-visible status indication for overhead doors and grilles. Designed for challenging environments like fire and emergency services, parking garages, and warehouses, the effective LED light strips limit downtime, maintenance, and repair costs.

Seismic Performance Validation

We can provide project specific seismic calculations for all coiling doors that are mounted Face of Wall to steel or masonry. Seismic performance validation is per ASCE 7-05.

Vibration Isolators

Vibration Isolators effectively reduce the amount of vibration* caused by operation of doors and grilles.

*Vibration was reduced by 14% on doors and grilles with Vibration Isolators installed compared to doors and grilles without the system.

Safety & Protection

Sensing Edge

Smoother Installation and easy maintenance: Designed with a flexible black rubber TPE material, our new sensing edge has two fins that conform to variations in the floor on both the interior and exterior of your door or grille. This ensures a secure seal without requiring you to overset the bottom door limit. The new sensing edge is easy to clean and remains free from rust and dirt stains, maintaining a fresh uniform appearance.

Edges are tested and listed to UL 10B as a component of the rolling steel fire door assembly.

Entrapment Protection Devices

Entrapment protection devices ensure that a motorized door or grille will not close on an object. If an object enters path of closure, the entrapment protection device will stop the door or grille from closing and return it to the fully open position.

Monitored Protection, Even at High Speeds

UL 325-2010 (NEMA 4X) compliant photo eye sensors allow for momentary contact operation – useful in parking garages and other high use openings. Interruption of the photo eye beam before the door fully closes causes the door to immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the fully open position.

SafetyGard Light Curtain Technology

The 6’ tall light curtain is installed within the guide and blends into the guide construction. If the grille is cycling and an object passes through the curtain beams the door will immediately halt downward travel and reverse direction to return to the open position.

Windload Options

Static Wind Load

Can be manufactured to withstand a static wind load of up to 40 psf. If wind load is not specified, the MicroCoil Grille will be manufactured to withstand a 20 ultimate wind load.

Operational Wind Load

Can be manufactured to withstand an operational wind load of up to 20psf.

Grille Repairability

Link Repair Kit

If a single link gets damaged, you do not have to replace an entire section of the grille curtain. Simply make note of the number that is etched on the vertical link, order a link repair kit for the number link that is damaged and repair it in the field. It is a simple process to remove a damaged link and use the snap-on repair link.

Section Replacement

If a whole section gets damaged, it's easy and hassle free to repair.
